West Ham United are quite clearly keen to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.
Michail Antonio was involved in a horrific car accident earlier this month, and he will be out of action for West Ham for at least a year.
Meanwhile, Niclas Fullkrug looks well off the pace, and the fact we signed him in the first place seems baffling to me.
It’s time for Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten to work together in the January transfer window, and bring a proper striker to the London Stadium.
The Hammers are said to have made a bid for Yuri Alberto already, but that offer got knocked back by Corinthians.
Hopefully there are other options on the table for West Ham.
The main thing is getting a signing over the line before the end of the transfer window.
We need a new forward, if we are to compete on all fronts this season, and of course in the future.
And the latest news coming out of the club looks very promising indeed…
Emmanuel Latte Lath destined to join West Ham
West Ham have been heavily linked with a move to sign Latte Lath from Middlesbrough for around £20 million.
The 25-year-old has been in stunning form in the Championship with Middlesbrough since the start of last season, with 27 goals in 59 games to his name (Transfermarkt).
This term, he has bagged nine goals in 22 outings, and has been a key factor in Boro’s push for the promotion spots.
Now it seems like he could be London Stadium bound.
That’s because his agent posted a photo to his Instagram account yesterday…and guess where he was.
That’s right, the club’s training ground…or our academy training ground to be precise:
Now, the fact that he was at the academy training ground rather Rush Green is interesting, but I don’t think it means too much.
He could have been having a chat with anyone from the club, and they may have been at the academy on that specific day.
I think the photo posed above is a real hint that Emmanuel Latte Lath could be West Ham bound.
He’s clearly a target for the Hammers due to his suitability to us and English football in general.
He is well-known for his impressive pace and absolutely explosive acceleration over short distances.
The Ivory Coast international is very strong when holding the ball up and his movement in and around the box really is very impressive.
Let’s hope West Ham get a deal done for the Middlesbrough striker as soon as the January window opens because we definitely need more quality options through the middle.
