Claret & Hugh have been informed by a West Ham source that central defender Max Kilman could have a chance of playing against Liverpool tomorrow.
In what would be a huge boost ahead of the Premier League clash at the London Stadium, it has been revealed that the £40m centre-back will face a late fitness test, with early signs looking positive.
Facing Arne Slot’s Liverpool team was always going to be a stern challenge, but doing so without West Ham’s most consistent central defender might have been asking too much.
Kilman was substituted after 25 minutes during West Ham’s 1-1 victory over Southampton on Boxing Day with a shoulder injury and was initially not expected to recover in time for the Liverpool game.
The makeshift partnership of Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jean-Clair Todibo performed admirably against the Saints. However, it’s fair to say that Southampton’s attack was perhaps the weakest the Hammers have faced this season.
Speaking to Claret & Hugh this afternoon, a top Hammers source said, “We hope so, but we don’t know yet. We’ll only know tomorrow, but he has a chance.”
