Bayern Munich is set to roll into 2025 with contract renewals on the mind.
A report from kicker details the full slate. As captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Bayern are set to hold talks with Thomas Müller, Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala in January. For Kimmich, a pay cut is not being considered. Regarding Davies, Bayern have already failed with two attempts to extend the contract – the outcome remains uncertain. Jamal Musiala, whose new salary is still being negotiated, is to receive a new deal with a significant pay rise (Not less than Joshua Kimmich). Meanwhile, in the case of Manuel Neuer, a new deal until 2026 is considered a formality
The most interesting nugget here perhaps is Thomas Müller. The 35-year-old has played in more of a reserve role this season under Vincent Kompany and it has been thought that his long but illustrious career was drawing to a close. However, the Raumdeuter is still beloved by the fanbase, and his teammates, and always seems to know how to strike the right tone about the team’s circumstances. Perhaps his off-field contributions will be regarded as invaluable — and his long service to the club rewarded by letting him go on his own terms, whenever he feels he is ready.
As for Kimmich, Davies, and Musiala, no news is good news for now. Two of the three have long looked likely to re-up in Bavaria and while Davies has been more of a question mark, the fact that he did not consummate his Real Madrid move last summer is surely a good sign. The Canadian has enjoyed a rebound year under Kompany. But all three of these will have other suitors, if they choose to entertain them.
Could Bayern keep almost the whole gang together in 2025/26?
