According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich might not want to wait around for Bayer Leverkusen ace to become available.
Instead, Bayern Munich could seek to bring in Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder Xavi Simons, who has been on loan at RB Leipzig for the last two seasons:
Max Eberl still has Xavi Simons on his list and is expected to make another attempt to sign him from PSG in summer 2025, especially since Florian Wirtz will not be on the market
Wirtz is — obviously — Bayern Munich’s first choice, but the club seems unwilling to wait for him to potentially become available in 2026. Is Bayern Munich being too impatient or is the versatility of Simons a major factor because he can play wing as well as attacking midfield?
As Bayern Munich seeks to revamp the wing position, this could be a way to accommodate eventually having Wirtz, Simons, Jamal Musiala, and Paul Wanner on the same roster for the 2026/27 season.
