Ange Postecoglou has come under pressure in recent weeks following poor results at Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur Ange Postecoglou has come under immense pressure following a dismal run of form since November.
The Lilywhites have won just two of their last eight Premier League games. A 6-3 hammering at the hands of Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium followed by a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest away on Boxing Day has left them a lowly 11th in the table.
While Ange Postecoglou was brought in last year for a long-term project and remains under contract at N17 until 2027, even the most optimistic of Spurs fans would admit that their first half of the 2024/25 campaign has been underwhelming, to say the least.

Persistent injury issues have been among the prime mitigating factors behind Tottenham’s disjointed and inconsistent displays. Also, it cannot be denied that the Australian’s open, attacking football without the right personnel continues to be a root cause of the North London side’s myriad of problems.
Regardless of key players missing due to a combination of injuries and illness, Big Ange has time and again repeated that he is not going to alter his style of play. When asked by a reporter after the game against Liverpool whether his style of play is sustainable, the 59-year-old snapped back at him and said “It’s not going to change”.
TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook slammed the Tottenham boss for stating that he was fed up with answering questions about his style of play, refusing to address the problems. He believes the loyal Spurs faithful are within their rights to know the Greek-Aussie’s long-term plans at White Hart Lane.
“It’s very arrogant to come out and say I’m not answering those questions anymore because we’re not asking the questions for talkSPORT, we’re not asking the questions for Sam Matterface and Troy Deeney,” Alex Crook said on talkSPORT.
“We’re asking those questions on behalf of the Tottenham fans because they want to know what the long-term plan is. So, for him to be dismissive, I think is a really bad look.”
Big Ange is now into his second season in the Premier League and Tottenham fans had hoped for progress after finishing fifth in the 2023/24 campaign. The Lilywhites have barely made any progress, and although the veteran tactician has had to deal with a lot of injuries which we give the benefit of the doubt to him, the lack of plan B—as ex-Spurs striker Darren Bent also alluded to after the Liverpool game—is simply alarming.

The ex-Celtic boss is not exempt from blame for sticking to his same principles of open, attacking football without having the required players to execute it. He needs to find a different solution to pick up points in the coming fixtures.
