Brentford are facing somewhat of an injury crisis ahead of their match against Arsenal on Wednesday, with two more players now doubts for the game.
Brentford were already in a pretty bad place with regards to injuries ahead of Friday’s match against Brighton, but the game between Arsenal’s next two opponents didn’t help their situation.
Goalkeeper Mark Flekken was forced off with a groin problem in the first half, and defender Ben Mee also had to come off later in the game. Thomas Frank admitted afterwards that both would need to be assessed.
“On both Flekken and Mee, we have no real update,” Frank said. “We’ll know more tomorrow when we really assess them. Hopefully, the injuries aren’t too big.”
On top of those two potential absentees, Josh Dasilva, Ethan Pinnock, Kristoffer Ajer, Aaron Hickey, Rico Henry, Igor Thiago, and Gustavo Nunes are all expected to miss the Arsenal game on Wednesday.
Sepp van den Berg is a doubt as well, with Frank admitting ahead of the Brighton game: “It’s going to be too short a turnaround for Brighton… let’s see for Arsenal.”
Frank had a similar update on Mathias Jensen, so the midfielder could also make his comeback against the Gunners.
Even if Flekken, Mee, van den Berg, and Jensen all pass fitness tests, Brentford will still have a much longer injury list than Arsenal’s, so there can be no excuses for Mikel Arteta’s side on Wednesday.
