Arsenal are known to be keen on signing West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus.
Mikel Arteta apparently wants to bring West Ham star Mohammed Kudus to The Emirates, and the Gunners’ interest in the Ghanaian has intensified after Bukayo Saka underwent surgery.
Saka is expected to be out injured for around two-three months, and that is obviously terrible news for Arsenal.
That’s where Kudus enters the conversation.
He actually hasn’t been anywhere near his best for the Hammers this season – mainly because he’s be used out wide on the left by Julen Lopetegui.
His future at the London Stadium is very much up in the air right now. I feel like it’s a case of if Lopetegui stays, then Kudus leaves.
But could Arsenal really make such a big transfer move during a month that is notoriously hard to get any good business done?
Well, the Gunners now know exactly what is needed if they do indeed plan to bring Kudus to north London this winter.
Big update on Arsenal target Mohammed Kudus
The West Ham star seems to be very unhappy at the London Stadium right now, with Julen Lopetegui at the helm.
As a result, he is being heavily linked with an exit from the club.
His £85 million release clause is set to become active in the summer, but could one of the world’s biggest clubs sign him this month instead?
Arsenal will undoubtedly be keeping a very close eye on his current situation.
Hammers inside Sean Whetstone has provided a big update on the situation today.
Whetstone – a close confidant of West Ham co-owner David Sullivan – has shared what kind of fee will be needed for Arsenal to prise Kudus away from the Hammers in January:
I have to say, if a £100 million bid does indeed come in for Kudus, then I actually think we should sell him.
It would represent a £62 million profit on the fee we paid for him in the summer of 2023.
Mohammed Kudus is an exceptional talent, and he has been unplayable for West Ham at times, so it’s no wonder why Arsenal might want to sign him.
However, a big squad rebuild is needed at West Ham for the third summer in a row (our recruitment over the last two summer windows has been horrendous hasn’t it).
Selling a big-name star like Kudus would help facilitate that rebuild.
Whilst I don’t think Arsenal are a club to make panic signings, Bukayo Saka’s hamstring surgery may well expedite their transfer plans.
So could a blockbuster January deal be possible? I wouldn’t completely rule it out.
However, Mohammed Kudus leaving West Ham to join Arsenal will be far more likely to happen in the summer in my opinion.
