First place guaranteed?
Look, Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß is not one to shy away from a bold remark. So it was when at the end of November when Hoeneß took to already promising that Bayern was going to win the league…and reminiscing about the good old days when that made the fans feel something.
Of course, Uli was not the only one with such confidence.
But…as a subsequent defeat to Mainz showed, there is life in this Bundesliga title race still.
Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer is sticking close to Uli on the predictions, however.
“If the honorary president promises something, I hope the team sticks to it,” Hainer said earlier in December in comments captured by @iMiaSanMia. “I’m very confident. We are FC Bayern and we formulate our ambitions.”
Although is there perhaps just a hint that the Bayern prez would have preferred his predecessor not to have made such an early proclamation? But, FC Bayern is nothing if not bold.
