West Ham United need to do a lot of work in the January transfer window.
Julen Lopetegui has already come out and sent a strong transfer message to West Ham co-owner David Sullivan, making it clear that he needs a new striker at the very least.
The Hammers have seriously underperformed in the Premier League so far this season.
Lopetegui has underwhelmed in his role since moving to the London Stadium, and he could be sacked if we lose heavily to Manchester City on Saturday.
Whoever is in charge, the most important thing will be strengthening the squad this month.
Moving on some of the deadwood including the likes of Danny Ings and Luizao will be key as well.
Now it has emerged that West Ham are desperate to seal some big transfers in the January window.
West Ham insider’s January transfer window claim
This month could end up being an incredibly exciting one for the Hammers fans.
West Ham cannot afford to exit the January window without having strengthened the squad at the London Stadium.
We are all fully aware that new signings are required, if we are to achieve success during the second half of the season.
And it seems as though that’s exactly what the club are trying to get done.
According to a report from Claret and Hugh, West Ham are said to be ‘working overtime to secure new signings during the January transfer window.
That’s great news, mainly because the biggest fear I had was that we would be inactive in the transfer market this winter.
Despite the huge summer spend, the Hammers squad is still an incredibly unbalanced one, and we desperately need to reduce the average age of the group as well.
The signings of a new striker, a powerful ball-carrying midfielder and a centre-back will be vitally important to our hopes of chasing down the European spots during the second half of the season.
Whether West Ham are actually able to get any deals over the line in the January transfer window remains to be seen though.
