Bayern Munich smashed Red Bull Salzburg 6-0 in its only tune-up before the Bundesliga starts back up this week.
Head coach Vincent Kompany was mostly happy to come out of the match unscathed.
“We won, which is always good, and we have no other injuries, which is the most important thing. We didn’t have a long break, and we also felt that the team didn’t need much work to look good again. Now we’re looking forward to the Bundesliga,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “There’s very little break, and things will be that way for the next 12 months. We can now look ahead to the game on Saturday. The goal is to prepare for the game and the preparation has to be perfect. Then we’ll have another mid-week game and lots of football again.”
Kompany did get a chance to use a lot of subs, which is nice (especially because some of those players desperately need minutes), while also integrating several youth players. All-in-all, it was a very productive effort from the Bavarians.
