Tottenham Hotspur are in need of defensive reinforcements at White Hart Lane, and the Lilywhites supporters would be excited by Levy’s stepped-up efforts in bringing in a new centre back in the ongoing winter transfer window with 22-year-old Thomas Kristensen lined up with a move to N17.
The Udinese defender is said to be monitored by a number of clubs, with Spurs Premier League rivals Leicester City and Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen among other potential suitors for his signature.
Kristensen has had his problems
Kristensen has suffered a bit of injuries in the ongoing campaign that has limited his involvement to only eight games with calf problems; however, his 6 ft 6 in stature, complemented by his physique, makes him not only an attractive option for clubs but also a perfectly suited option for English football.
Tottenham are said to have watched him a lot, and the latest reports claim that the Lilywhites are serious about signing him.
Tottenham can land him on a cheap deal
Latest from Messaggero Veneto indicates that Udinese are open to selling Kristensen for €16.5m (£13.6m), which comes as a relatively cheap fee as regards Daniel Levy’s financial arms.
While the Foxes are said to be chasing his signatures with the King Power side having already made multiple enquiries, Tottenham’s presence in the big six and the project at White Hart Lane makes N17 an intriguing destination for Kristensen.
Understandably, given his short Serie A career, many supporters would be sceptical about moving for the 22-year-old. However, it does suit Levy’s transfer policy of late, and he fits the profile of a player who can do well in Ange Postecoglou’s system. Moreover, he is going to bring much-needed aerial prowess and solidity to Tottenham’s backline.
