Tottenham forward Richarlison targeting a return from injury against Arsenal
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has been dealing with an unprecedented injury crisis since the start of the season.
The Australian tactician has just one fit available centre-back in Radu Dragusin. Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies are still out on the sidelines. Up ahead in attack, Wilson Odobert is not expected to return back soon following hamstring surgery, but Mikey Moore could be on the bench for Spurs when they take on Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at home on Wednesday.
The Tottenham boss provided a positive injury update on Richarlison before last weekend’s Newcastle United fixture. He said the forward is close to returning to action, having started training with the first team.

Richarlison has been in and out of the Spurs side this season owing to hamstring issues. He has barely featured for Ange Postecoglou’s side this season. Back-to-back hamstring injuries have limited him to only five Premier League appearances, failing to provide backup to club-record signing Dominic Solanke in the process.
Now, according to a report from The Athletic, Richarlison is targeting a return from injury in next week’s North London derby against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The South American has missed competitive action for Tottenham since he suffered a hamstring injury in their 4-1 victory over Aston Villa on November 3. The 27-year-old’s comeback—after an injury-ravaged first part of the campaign—will be significant given his ability to contribute both assists and goals.
Richarlison has struggled to find his feet at White Hart Lane since his big-money move from Everton in the summer of 2022, and the chiefs at the Hotspur Way have started growing frustrated with the 27-year-old’s lack of availability. He has failed to live up to the lofty expectations of the Tottenham Hotspur faithful thanks to his persistent injury issues and hugely inconsistent displays.

The club’s medical team will need to manage the versatile forward carefully as it will take some time for him to attain full fitness after being sidelined for more than two months. Personally, the Brazilian would be hoping to put behind his injury woes and show his capabilities in front of goal.
