Graham Potter could make Kieran Dewsbury-Hall his first signing as West Ham boss in a raid of his former club Chelsea.
The Englishman wants to strengthen his options in midfield and attack and Dewsbury-Hall is one option.
Potter was announced as West Ham’s replacement for Julen Lopetegui on Thursday morning, with the Spaniard the shortest-lived Hammers boss in history.
Dewsbury-Hall, 26, has struggled for Premier League minutes on the fringes of the squad since signing for £30million from Leicester in the summer to reunite with Enzo Maresca.
He made the Championship team of the season as part of the Foxes’ title-winning campaign but has only racked up 55 minutes of Premier League action off the bench.
It comes as Hammers midfield Edson Alvarez emerges as a target for Monaco.

They want the Mexican on loan but West Ham are expected to reject such a proposal.
West Ham signed Alvarez from Ajax for £35.4m from Ajax on a five-year deal in the summer of 2023.
Potter’s task is to revive West Ham’s season with the London club sat 14th in the Premier League table.
‘It was important to me that I waited until a job came along that I felt was right for me, and equally that I was the right fit for the club I am joining. That is the feeling I have with West Ham United,’ he told the club’s website.
‘My conversations with the chairman and the board have been very positive and constructive, we share the same values of hard work and high energy to create the solid foundations that can produce success, and we are on the same wavelength in terms of what is needed in the short-term and then how we want to move the club forward in the medium to long term.’
Meanwhile, Napoli are preparing a bid for Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei.
