West Ham are looking to sign a striker on loan this month and Manchester United have made Marcus Rashford available.
It became clear quite quickly after the arrival of former West Ham target Ruben Amorim at Man United that Marcus Rashford could be on his way out.
Just hours before kick-off in the Manchester derby it emerged Rashford had been dropped from the Red Devils squad altogether by Amorim.
The news obviously made big headlines and was seen as proof – alongside the fact he’s effectively been transfer listed – that Rashford’s time is up at Manchester United.
Red Devils legends David Beckham and Gary Neville applauded Amorim’s tough Rashford stance.
After that turn of events in early December Hammers News stated West Ham would be mad not to throw their hat in the ring for Rashford in the January transfer window.
Man United looking to ship Rashford out in January
While the forward has clearly had his issues, we suggested that a move to West Ham might reignite his career – just like it did for his good friend Jesse Lingard.
Especially as the Irons were one of a clutch of clubs reportedly interested in signing Rashford two years ago.
Back then the likes of 90 Min reported on the interest when Rashford was considering his future at Man United as he failed to hold down a regular spot in the starting line-up.
Man United are keen to ship Rashford out in January and his brother and agent has been holding talks with clubs including AC Milan and Dortmund.
It was actually Hammers News that exclusively broke the news last month that West Ham liked the idea of a loan move for Rashford in January.
But one major issue was highlighted.
Hammers News revealed West Ham interest in Rashford
“Rashford would be a great loan,” a spokesman for West Ham’s owners told Hammers News back on December 16th.
“But he will be on huge wages I imagine.”
Indeed he is. Over £300k per week according to reports.
So that was always going to be Man United’s big problem in offloading Rashford.
A loan – where the club taking the forward pick up a percentage rather than all of his wages – with option or obligation to buy therefore seems the only viable solution.
Now Rashford to West Ham from Man United could actually happen says a Sky journalist close to Jack Sullivan.
It emerged last night that the Hammers hierarchy have registered their interest in keeping Rashford in the Premier League.
Jack Sullivan, former West Ham women’s chairman and son of majority owner David Sullivan, is the brainchild and co-presenter of a new Sky Sports podcast called The Boardroom.
Sullivan does the podcast alongside Sky Sports football reporter Mark McAdam.
So it’s safe to assume his update on West Ham’s interest in Rashford is very well informed.

Many have scoffed at the links, claiming it is pie in the sky stuff from the Hammers.
But McAdam has explained why there is a very real chance he could end up at the London Stadium rather than Italy.
“West Ham United have expressed their interest and desire with regards to signing Marcus Rashford,” McAdam told Sky Sports News last night.
“They know it’s a very difficult deal to make happen because of the finances involved and because there is a lot of interest from big European sides.
“But they want to be kept in the loop with regards developments and what happens.
“A lot of people say ‘well hang on a second Marcus Rashford is on £350,000 per week, how can West Ham afford a potential deal like that whether it is on loan or permanent’.
“You have to remember Premier League sides have a lot more money than teams in Serie A. So therefore West Ham might say ‘well actually, great opportunity in the Premier League, we’ll pay a big chunk of his wages and we’ll put him in the best league in the world to showcase just how good he still is’.”
Interestingly, Rashford publicly praised Hammers chief Sullivan after his generous £25,000 donation to his campaign to continue free school meals.
Meanwhile Hammers News have also exclusively revealed Sullivan’s sons have been begging their dad to sign an exciting Premier League star.
