Everton are on the search for a new manager, with the club making a decision on the future of Sean Dyche. The manager has been shown the door a matter of hours before the FA Cup third round tie against Peterborough.
There has been reports around Dyche’s future for the last few days, but the timing of the decision has come as a shock to the footballing world. It has previously been reported that the club could target a move for former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.

Following the manager’s dismissal from Roma, the group said in a club statement: “We would like to thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his passion and efforts since his arrival at the club.
“We will always have great memories of his tenure at Roma, but we believe that an immediate change is in the best interests of the club. We wish José and his assistants all the best in their future endeavours.”
They gave more of an insight into their feelings on the Portuguese manager after announcing his appointment at Roma in May 2021. “We are thrilled and delighted to welcome José Mourinho into the AS Roma family,” club president Dan Friedkin and vice-president Ryan Friedkin said in a joint statement.
“A great champion who has won trophies at every level, José will provide tremendous leadership and experience to our ambitious project. The appointment of José is a huge step in building a long-term and consistent winning culture throughout the club.”
While there was initial reports linking Mourinho with a move to Goodison Park, those have since been played down. David Moyes has bee instilled as the early favourite to take the role.
