New West Ham United head coach Graham Potter is expected to be very busy in the January transfer window.
The January transfer window will be vital for Graham Potter, if he is to turn West Ham‘s fortunes around this season.
The Hammers head coach has already been told by the board that he will have funds to spend in January.
And he certainly needs to be backed sufficiently, if he is to succeed at the London Stadium.
The West Ham squad is an extremely unbalanced one right now.
We are lacking in all different departments of the squad, but it seems like Potter has set his sights on one particular signing that would strengthen us significantly.
Now it’s all down to David Sullivan to get the deal done.
Graham Potter wants Chelsea player in the January window
Potter needs to address numerous different areas of his squad in the January transfer window.
Arguably the area in most urgent need of attention is his central midfield department though.
And it seems like the 49-year-old is desperate to get one specific signing over the line before the end of this month.
According to a report from The Independent, Graham Potter has ‘approved’ a move to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea.
The midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to the London Stadium already this month.
Described as ‘outstanding’ during his time with Leicester City (LCFC), the 26-year-old is a really cultured central midfielder.
He has a magical left foot and is a terrific passer of the football.
Dewsbury-Hall has averaged a pass completion rate of over 85% when playing for Chelsea this season (Who Scored).
The former Leicester man is an extremely silky player, and he is the perfect midfielder for Potter’s system – one that relies on ball retention.
If he is really available on loan this summer, the Hammers need to be all over a deal for him, especially if Graham Potter wants him brought to the club in the January transfer window.
However, if West Ham are unable to include an option to buy clause into the deal, then I would suggest signing him would be a waste of time.
We don’t want another Jesse Lingard situation on our hands in the summer after all!
