Graham Potter spoke to the media after West Ham United lost 2-1 to Aston Villa in the FA Cup.
West Ham were unfortunate to lose to Aston Villa, and the impact of Graham Potter was clear and obvious to see.
Tomas Soucek spoke to reporters before the game, and took a clear dig at his former manager Julen Lopetegui.
The Hammers midfielder explained how positive Potter has been, and highlighted how easy he is to understand.
Make of that what you will!
As positive as the performance was against Villa, especially during the first 60 minutes, there will still be some huge concerns for Potter this morning.
He clearly has to sort a few things out on the training ground, but with the transfer window open, he will surely have ambitions of strengthening his squad as well.
Some signings are required in the January transfer window, if we are to be competitive during the second half of the season.
Graham Potter provides transfer update
The Hammers boss clearly needs to bolster his ranks this month.
The Hammers lost Niclas Fullkrug to a serious looking hamstring injury at Villa Park, whilst Crysencio Summerville was forced off at half-time with a slight problem.
Signing a forward is surely now a necessity, but what is Potter’s take on the situation?
His tenure at Brighton – as good as it undoubtedly was – was undermined by his team’s inability to put the ball int he back of the net.
He cannot afford to allow the same thing to happen at West Ham.
The Hammers boss spoke to the press after our 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, and responded when asked to provide a transfer update, as quoted by Roshane Thomas:
“I’m just reacting to a game that’s finished. I need to assess the injuries, assess where we’re at and have a think with everyone connected if we need to do anything, or find someone who could help us.“
Potter was obviously very careful with his wording there.
However, it’s painfully obvious to see that the Hammers need to sign a striker, with Fullkrug joining Michail Antonio and Danny Ings on the sidelines.
We desperately need more firepower in the forward department, otherwise Graham Potter will struggle to get his West Ham career off the ground.
Reading between the lines, I think Potter made it clear that he wants a striker with his transfer update.
Whether or not he will be backed to bring one in remains to be seen though.
