Liverpool manager Arne Slot has voiced his opinion on David Moyes‘ incredible return as manager of rivals Everton.
It has been an eventful week at Goodison Park, with Everton sacking Sean Dyche on Thursday just hours before their victory against Peterborough FA Cup.
That was followed by the announcement on Saturday that Moyes has returned to Everton, who he previously managed between 2002 and 2013.
Moyes received much praise for his work during his initial spell at Everton and is now tasked with helping the Toffees to avoid relegation.
Dyche was dismissed with Everton in 16th place in the Premier League having secured just three wins from their 19 league games so far this season.
However, Slot was quick to praise Dyche and stated that it is a shame to see him depart.

Slot suggested that he felt that Everton’s decision to dismiss Dyche was somewhat harsh
Ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup game at home to Accrington Stanley, Slot was asked for his opinion on Everton’s managerial change.
Slot firstly reflected on Dyche’s tenure and suggested that he felt his dismissal was somewhat harsh.
Slot told ITV: ‘First of all, it’s always a pity if a manager has to leave and that is what Sean Dyche had to do.
‘I’m not an Everton fan, I was a bit surprised because I think he had a few very good results lately, having a few draws that nobody probably expected.’
Slot went on to describe Moyes’ return to Everton as ‘special’ for both Everton and football in general.
He said: ‘With David Moyes coming in it’s always special because of what he did for Everton but I think in general for the game. He was also successful at West Ham where I think they won the Conference League with John Heitinga who is my assistant at the moment.
‘It’s good to have him back but it’s always a pity that someone that in my opinion who did really well is out of a job now.’
After the initial meeting between Everton and Liverpool was postponed on December 7 due to bad weather, the rivals still have to face each other twice in the Premier League this season.
Slot believes that Moyes’ return as manager is special for both Everton and football in general
Mail Sport revealed on Friday that Moyes was expected to sign terms that will run until June 2027.
Since leaving Everton in 2013, Moyes has had spells in charge of Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland as well as two stints at West Ham.
Moyes guided Everton to a fourth place finish in the Premier League in the 2004-05 campaign, which saw them reach the Champions League play-offs. Everton also reached the FA Cup final in 2009, where they lost to Chelsea.
The first game of Moyes’ second spell as Everton manager is set to be the league fixture at home to Aston Villa on Wednesday.
