There is a lot of activity in the Bundesliga at the moment and while Bayern Munich might not be a major player in the frenzy, there are some important potential moves on the horizon. Let’s take a look at some of them…
Burkardt staying at Mainz…for now
Mainz 05 striker Jonathan Burkardt has been very closely linked to Eintracht Frankfurt, but he will not leave his club at midseason per Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg:
Jonathan #Burkardt has confirmed Sky that he will not leave Mainz 05 this window – as expected.
“I’m staying in Mainz, definitely this winter. After that, we’ll see what happens. I’m super happy here; it’s a lot of fun with the team,” he said.
He remains one of Eintracht Frankfurt’s top transfer targets for the summer. #SGE
Burkardt has already scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists in the current Bundesliga season.
If the much rumored move to Manchester City for Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Omar Marmoush goes through, it will be interesting to see if Die Adler pursue Burkardt harder this month.
Marmoush to City getting very serious
Speaking of Marmoush, Jan Aage Fjørtoft checked in with some thoughts on that potential move:
Re: Omar Marmoush
Eintracht Frankfurt are not keen on selling Omar Marmoush.
However, after discussions between the player’s representatives and Manchester City, it’s clear that Marmoush is eager to join City.
The situation is straightforward: for the transfer to happen, the two clubs need to agree on a fee. To put it plainly, Manchester City must be willing to pay Eintracht Frankfurt €80 million.
This is not a “negotiation position”—it is the price.
Key factors influencing Eintracht’s stance:
1.The club is currently in the process of increasing its capital base, making them financially stable and under no pressure to sell.
2.Eintracht is aiming for Champions League qualification this season, and Marmoush is pivotal to their chances of securing the lucrative bonuses that come with it.
3.They are in no rush and can wait until the summer to entertain offers.
Eintracht’s CEO, Axel Hellmann, is widely regarded as one of football’s most credible and well-connected leaders. He proved his negotiating expertise with the €95 million sale of Randal Kolo Muani to PSG.
In summary, Omar Marmoush could become a Manchester City player this transfer window, but only if City meets the €80 million asking price.
Fabrizio Romano checked in with an update of the situation:
Manchester City are expected to complete Omar Marmoush deal this week.
City will submit their official bid for Omar Marmoush this week, it’s already been prepared.
Add-ons will be part of the structure, formal talks to follow to seal the deal with Eintracht. ⏳
Finally, Plettenberg summed up the latest info:
⏳ Today, new negotiations regarding a transfer of Omar #Marmoush took place between Man City’s Txiki Begiristain and Eintracht Frankfurt. Both clubs are not far apart.
#MCFC believe the deal can be finalised in the range of €70m fixed, plus bonus payments. However, a total agreement with #SGE has not yet been reached.
⚠️ All parties are working to complete the transfer promptly and fairly. An agreement on Tuesday cannot be ruled out. This would mean that Marmoush might not be in the squad against SC Freiburg after all.
Olsen to Wolfsburg?
Plettenberg is also reporting that Club Brugge winger Andreas Skov Olsen is headed to VfL Wolfsburg:
Excl | Andreas Skov #Olsen and VfL Wolfsburg have now reached a verbal agreement!
… regarding a transfer in the winter. He can sign a contract until 2029.
Negotiations with Club Brugge are expected to take place soon. Price: €10-15m.
The Wolves were not don there, though, per Plettenberg. VfL Wolfsburg could also be adding SC Freiburg’s Kiliann Sildillia:
Excl | Kiliann #Sildillia and @VfL_Wolfsburg have now reached a verbal agreement!
… regarding a loan in the winter with an obligation to buy.
Negotiations with SC Freiburg are expected to take place soon.
⚠️ Sildillia and Andreas Skov #Olsen, Wolfsburg now pushing for two new players.
Szalai leaves Hoffenheim
Hoffenheim announced that Attila Szalai has left the club in favor of Standard Liège:
Good luck in Liège, @SzalaiAttila41
Attila Szalai will leave TSG Hoffenheim until the end of the current season and join Belgian first division club Standard Liège on loan.
BVB nearing deal for Veiga, in talks with Rashford
Sky Sport journalist PJ Berger is reporting that Borussia Dortmund is eager to bring in Chelsea FC center-back Renato Veiga:
⚫️ EXCL. Borussia Dortmund are very interested in Renato Veiga (21/ ). There is a VERBAL AGREEMENT between the 21-year-old center-back from Chelsea and #BVB. Dortmund are exploring a loan deal with an option to buy.
Veiga is keen on the move. Dortmund are now pushing and trying to find a solution with #CFC.
Kicker has also reported on Dortmund’s interest in Veiga. @Plettigoal @SkySportDE
Romano added context to the situation:
Renato Veiga, expected to leave Chelsea as club opened the doors to permanent exit — not loan.
Chelsea want around €30m for Veiga to leave accommodating his request to go and play as CB, not as LB.
⚫️ Full agreement Borussia Dortmund-Veiga on contract/project, in place.
In addition to Veiga, BVB is also in “direct talks with the representation for Manchester United star Marcus Rashford per Berger, but that move could be a real longshot:
⚫️ Borussia Dortmund are still in direct talks with the agents of Marcus Rashford (27/ ). There was a personal meeting last week between Rashford’s camp and #BVB boss Sebastian Kehl in Dortmund – exclusive news w/ @plettigoal @skysports_sheth
BVB explore the situation for a straight loan. However it remains very difficult and unrealistic to make the deal happen due to high salary, expensive package. But Dortmund is well informed about all details.
AC Milan still involved and pushing to make the deal happen. @SkySportDE
Finally, Romano backed up rumors that Dortmund was talking to Chelsea FC about Carney Chukwuemeka:
Understand Chelsea have opened doors to Carney Chukwuemeka’s exit this month on loan deal!
Expected to be a paid loan with salary covered and NO buy option clause.
⚫️ Borussia Dortmund are pushing, in active talks for Carney on loan… another option, loan to Strasbourg.
McAtee headed to the Bundesliga?
Romano also reported that Manchester CIty attacking midfielder James McAtee could be headed to the Bundesliga:
Bundesliga’s the most likely destination for James McAtee as several clubs want him now.
Up to player side and Man City as Bayer Leverkusen, Mainz, Leipzig, Dortmund and Stuttgart have all enquired about McAtee’s availability.
Malen headed to Villa
Berger is reporting that Borussia Dortmund attacker Donyell Malen’s rumored move to Aston Villa looks to be going through:
EXCLUSIVE: TOTAL AGREEMENT between Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa over a permanent deal for Donyell Malen (25/ ). Clubs have agreed on a transfer fee of €25m plus €5m add-ons, with €3m guaranteed. Only minor details remain to be finalized.
Malen is not expected to travel with the team to Kiel today as he prepares for his move to Villa Park.
Juve, Spurs zero in on Kolo Muani
Randal Kolo Muani is getting big interest from Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur per Romano:
Juventus and Tottenham have both made contact again today with Paris Saint-Germain for Randal Kolo Muani.
Manchester United called last week and remain informed on developments but Rashford exit will be key factor.
PSG insist on their conditions, but RKM will 100% leave.
Tzimas on the move?
FC Nürnberg striker Stefanos Tzimas is drawing interest from Liverpool FC per Plettenberg:
FC Liverpool have started talks with 1. FC Nürnberg about a summer transfer for Stefanos #Tzimas. There was a phone call a few days ago.
#LFC have also spoken to the player’s camp.
The 19y/o striker is regarded as one of the brightest forward talents in Greece, having scored 8 goals this season for 1. FC Nürnberg. FCN are still planning to activate the €18m buy option with the intention of selling him directly in the summer, as previously revealed.
FCN have set a price tag of €25m + add-ons. Liverpool, as well as Chelsea, Brighton, Aston Villa, and many Bundesliga clubs, have been informed.
