West Ham are refusing to confirm whether they have made a transfer bid for Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi. However, a Hammers insider has admitted that the club does “like him.”
Claret & Hugh spoke to a senior source at the London Stadium today. While players like Jhon Duran, Marcus Rashford, and James Ward-Prowse were mentioned, the club avoided providing specifics on Awoniyi.
When pressed about the forward, the insider revealed: “He’s had a few injuries, but we do like him.”
Reports from Nottingham suggest that West Ham have submitted a loan offer with an option to buy. However, this appears to have been rejected by Forest.
Meanwhile, C&H understands there is genuine interest in Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford. However, the chances of securing him are slim. A training ground source stated, “Given wages and competition from other clubs, particularly Milan, it’s very unlikely.”
The same source added that West Ham are “very tight on FFP,” suggesting that player departures are likely this transfer window. The club remains “flat out” in their efforts to offload players to free up funds.
For the past month, West Ham’s messaging has remained consistent: a striker and a fast midfielder are the top priorities. This stance has not changed, even with the appointment of Graham Potter as head coach.
When asked about transfer targets during his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Fulham, Potter refused to comment, keeping his cards close to his chest
