West Ham United head coach Graham Potter will be desperate for some new additions in the January transfer window.
Graham Potter was handed the reigns at West Ham on Thursday, and he now has some serious work to do.
The squad at at the London Stadium is really unbalanced right now, with a lack of quality and pace up front threatening to undermine our chances of achieving success this season.
There has been talk of a move for Jhon Duran, but that doesn’t seem likely after our failed attempts to sign the Aston Villa striker in the summer.
Potter has to cast his net far and wide.
The priority for him should be to add some explosive power and pace to his front-line.
The 49-year-old apparently has his eye on one man in particular, but the links seem very hard to believe.
West Ham eying Premier League forward in the January window
Potter will be fully aware that he needs to sign a top-class forward this month.
Without a new striker, the Hammers will really struggle during the second-half of the season.
And according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, West Ham are battling it out with Tottenham and numerous European clubs to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United this winter.
The 27-year-old seems certain to leave Old Trafford in the January window.
I have to say, I would be absolutely shocked if this deal happened.
Rashford’s £300k-a-week wages would make it almost impossible for the Hammers to sign him.
There’s absolutely no way that the club will blow the wage structure to bits in order to sign a forward with nothing to prove – someone with an alleged attitude problem as well don’t forget.
The need for West Ham to sign a striker in the January transfer window is now an urgent one.
However, Rashford is not the man we need right now, nor is he someone who is a realistic target in my eyes, despite what the media are suggesting.
