Liverpool travel to Nottingham Forest and Everton take on Aston Villa in two of the 10 midweek Premier League matches that will appear on BBC’s Match of the Day
Everton and Liverpool are back in midweek Premier League action this week after progression in the FA Cup. Supporters will be eager to follow the action as one embarks on a journey with a new manager whilst the other takes part in a fiery top-four clash.
First up on Tuesday, Liverpool travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest. They remain the only team in the English top-flight to defeat Arne Slot’s side all season, winning the reverse fixture at Anfield 1-0, and have continued to defy expectations by sitting third in the table.
A day afterwards, Everton host Aston Villa in what is set to be a grand occasion. That is because David Moyes has returned for a second stint as manager, and here kicks off the fight to take the club away from relegation danger.

Other top Premier League fixtures this midweek include Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford vs Manchester City and Chelsea vs Bournemouth. Fans unable to tune in live will be keen to catch up on the action afterwards, and often the favoured option is BBC’s Match of the Day.
Presented by Gary Lineker until the season’s end, the show offers full highlights with commentary, post-match interviews and analysis. And here, the ECHO explains the key details about this week’s midweek programme.
Is Match of the Day on tonight?
In short, no, Match of the Day will not be broadcast by BBC tonight (Tuesday, January 14).
Instead the broadcaster is holding off until the majority of the midweek fixtures are complete before airing the show on Wednesday, January 15 on BBC One at 10:40pm.
Will Match of the Day be repeated?
Unlike typical weekend showings of Match of the Day, no, the show will unfortunately not be repeated the morning after. Instead supporters with a valid TV license should be able to access the programme via the BBC iPlayer app on both mobile and desktop devices.
Match of the Day running order
No running order is established until the matches are complete. The best port of call is to keep an eye on Match of the Day’s official X account, and presenter Gary Lineker’s account too.
