Wilfred Zaha is in talks for a shock move to MLS side Charlotte FC this month.
The former Crystal Palace winger is closing on an initial loan deal with potential for another season.
The 32-year old has been on loan at Lyon from Galatasaray but with his game time in France limited, he has been exploring options to find a new club.
Having played for Galatasaray and Lyon in the same season, regulations ensure he could not appear for another team in Europe this season.
That opened the door for ambitious Charlotte who are now hopeful of reaching an agreement.
Zaha, who was back in the stands at Selhurst Park for Palace’s game against Arsenal in December, has not ruled out a return to the Premier League at some stage but is ready to seize the opportunity of a fresh challenge in the United States.

The ambitious MLS side are currently managed by former Brentford and Aston Villa boss Dean Smith
The club are looking to compete with the big spenders in the division, including Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami
Zaha made his first-team debut for Palace aged just 17 in March 2010 and went on to join United as Sir Alex Ferguson’s final signing in January 2013.
Under Ferguson’s replacement David Moyes, though, Zaha played just four times.
He returned to Palace the following summer, first on loan for the season and then permanently in January 2015, and stayed for a further eight-and-a-half years.
He racked up 90 goals and 52 assists in 458 matches for the south London outfit.
His signing will be viewed as an exciting coup for Charlotte who had been in negotiations with Newcastle United for Miguel Almiron.
