It is no secret that Christopher Nkunku is on Bayern Munich’s wishlist, and that the German club have been pursuing his talent. However, the transfer looks to be quite a complicated one for the Bavarians.
Chelsea and Bayern are in the midst of negotiating a deal to complete Nkunku’s transfer, but the deal would most likely involve not just money, but also an exchange of players. The tentative deal is to trade Mathys Tel for Christopher Nkunku. But there has still been no progress, per a report from Fabrizio Romano (captured by @iMiaSanMia). According to Romano, Tel has the desire to stay at Bayern and find his success in Munich. He would like to stay in the club, but considering Nkunku’s €70 million price tag, Bayern would only be able to complete the deal by offering up a player in exchange.
Understandably, Nkunku is keen on moving to Munich, but he can only do so much while he waits to see what happens between Tel and the Rekordmeister. While Tel is a fan favorite, most fans also believe that he deserves more playing time than he gets currently, and a move to a different club would do wonders to his development. Whether or not Tel and the club believes the same is a different story, but regardless, it looks like the Nkunku deal completely hinges on Mathys Tel.
