According to a report from Sport1’s Kerry Hau, Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl took a handline stance with the agent for Alphonso Davies, Nick Huoseh, and refused to get duped about what other offers might be out there.
In addition, Davies has a strong desire to stay, which might have also played a role in Huoseh backing off negotiating tactics that might have caused tension this week:
During the negotiations on Friday afternoon, Max Eberl made it clear to Alphonso Davies’ agent that he would not do anything excessive. Especially since Real Madrid – despite an improved offer at the beginning of January – was never willing to put together a mega package of well over 20 million euros per year for Davies.
Ultimately, FCB and the players’ side were prepared to make concessions and took important steps towards each other. Another decisive factor: Davies’s desire to stay, which he has recently expressed several times. The extension is not yet 100 percent through, but the trend is now clearly pointing towards a signature – as first reported by @David_Ornstein.
As it stands, Davies should be set to extend his contract in the coming days.
