Arsenal are interested in Norwegian talent Sverre Nypan and the player is keen on the move, with a decision on his future expected in the coming weeks.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Norwegian teenager Sverre Nypan recently, and David Ornstein told The Athletic FC podcast this week that the player is keen on the transfer.
“There are young players that will be on [Arsenal’s] agenda now,” Ornstein said. “Like Nypan from Rosenberg, one of the top young midfielders from what I’ve heard across the game, he’d be very keen on a move to Arsenal.
“They like him but I don’t know of anything developing at this stage. They need to be in the mix for those sorts of players.”
Sam Dean writes for The Telegraph that Arsenal are among the clubs after Nypan, though they’re just one of many. Nypan’s current club Rosenborg want around £10m for the transfer, and the suggestion in Norway is that a decision on his future will be made in the coming weeks.
Simon Collings confirms for The Standard that Arsenal are interested, and that their willingness to give chances to young players and the presence of Norway captain Martin Odegaard should help to give them an edge.
Meanwhile, Felix Keith and Ryan Taylor of the Mirror report that Arsenal are among the top contenders for Nypan’s signature, with a final decision set to be communicated to relevant parties within the next few weeks.
Manchester United are also in the mix, though Norwegian sources suggest that move currently looks unlikely. Instead, Manchester City look like the more probable destination of the two.
Nypan played 33 games for Rosenborg last season, with the Norwegian first tier kicking off in April and ending in December. He scored eight goals and assisted 10 in those appearances.
The youngster is also a Norway u21 international, making his debut in September and going on to play four times for the team.
