Ex-Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has broken silence on his future after rumours circulated that he’s expected to leave Real Madrid this summer.
Carlo Ancelotti has addressed rumours that he’s all-set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season. The former Everton manager returned to Los Blancos for a second spell after his exit from Goodison Park in June 2021.
Ancelotti, 65, has been a revelation since moving back to Madrid. He helped them win La Liga and the Champions League in the 2021/22 season, and repeated the same feat last campaign. During his second stint with Los Blancos, Ancelotti has won 143, drawn 32 and lost just 29 of his 204 matches at the helm.
It’s an impeccable record, although this term has not gone to plan for Real, so far. Although they sit top of La Liga, they are just two points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid, and have a fight to retain their crown. In Europe, Los Blancos have won three and lost three of their six league-phase matches to date.

This, along with his contract running into its final 18 months, has increased speculation surrounding Ancelotti’s future. Onda Cero has reported that the ex-Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss is set to depart at the end of this season, with former Liverpool favourite Xabi Alonsi the favourite to take over.
While rumours continue to circulate, Ancelotti addressed them in his pre-match press conference’s ahead of his side’s Champions League game against RB Salzburg. “I want to be very clear, the date of departure from this club will never be decided by me, never in my life,” Ancelotti said.
“Someday that time will come, but I don’t know when it will be. I don’t decide.
“It could be tomorrow, in a few games, in a year… in five years. Florentino [Perez] will remain here for four more years and my goal is to reach Florentino’s four years and so we say goodbye together…”
Ancelotti spent a successful 18 months with Everton – after replacing Marco Silva in December 2019. He won an impressive 31 of his 67 matches in charge, guiding them to a 10th-place finish in the Premier League. The Toffees haven’t finished higher than that under four different managers since.
