Ryder Cup winning golfer Tommy Fleetwood has been speaking about his hopes for Everton under David Moyes
Ryder Cup winning golfer Tommy Fleetwood has revealed his hopes for Everton under David Moyes after what he described as a “ridiculous” scoreline against Tottenham Hotspur as the returning Blues boss secured the first victory of his second spell in charge at Goodison Park. Southport-born Fleetwood has joked that, as an Evertonian, he ‘needs a psychologist,’ admitting that he finds joy in the rollercoaster emotions he experiences backing the Blues through the ‘joint suffering’ he shares with other fans.
Speaking with Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan on The Sports Agents podcast, Fleetwood admits that part of the club’s charm is their unpredictability.
He said: “Like, I love being Everton fan, because you just never know what’s going to happen. And it definitely prepares you for a lot of things in life.”

With Everton this month reappointing Moyes – who originally spent 11 years with the club between 2002 and 2013, guiding them to nine top eight finishes, including their highest ever Premier League position of fourth in 2004/05 – Fleetwood admits that he is happy to see the Scot back in the dugout, despite the work down by his predecessor.
The seven times European Tour winner said: “Yeah, it’s been a good start with Moyes back.
“I actually think Sean Dyche did an amazing job. I really, really do.
“I think he was fantastic, and it was a shame to see him go. But hopefully, you know, we can find some positive results and keep pushing.”
Moreover, Fleetwood admits he was elated with Everton’s 3-2 victory over Spurs on Sunday, which proved to be the perfect present for his 34th birthday that day. He said: “I mean, Everton being 3-0 up at half time is the most ridiculous score I’ve ever heard.
“But it’s one of those things as well when it’s like, when we go 1-0 up, you’re like, ‘Oh, it’ll be 2-1; 2-0 up, it’ll be 3-2.
“Can’t be 4-3, surely?’ And then they keep coming back. But yeah, it’s a good start.”
Loyal but long-suffering Evertonians are now hoping that the return of Moyes and move to the new stadium next season can prove the start of a bright new era for the club having stayed up with a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Crystal Palace in the final home game of 2021/22, coming within one goal of a first relegation in 72 years on the final day of 2022/23 when posing the lowest equivalent points total in their history and being hit with an unprecedented brace of points deductions last season. Fleetwood said: “I actually need a psychologist just for being an Everton fan.
“Do you know what? it’s really nice when you see an Everton fan, wherever you are in the world, because you have this like joint suffering.
“You have this mutual connection, that you just look at each other, and you know that you’ve been put through it like every weekend for the last few years.”
