Manchester City have reached an agreement with AC Milan for the loan signing of Kyle Walker, talkSPORT understands.
The deal includes an option to make Walker’s switch permanent and no obligation.
He’ll become the fourth Englishman on Milan’s books alongside Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Walker will move to Italy with 18 months remaining on his City contract.
The 34-year-old also bravely turned down a lucrative £400,000-a-week offer to play in the Middle East having informed Saudi Pro League bosses he wanted to remain playing in Europe.
City have wasted little time in adding defensive reinforcements, snapping Abdukodir Khusanov from RC Lens for £33million
The Uzbekistan international’s pace made him a standout choice for City as he once clocked a blistering sprint of 37km/h during a Ligue 1 clash.
Khusanov’s speed places him just shy of the 37.58km/h average set by Usain Bolt when he set the 100m record.
City have also boosted their attacking stocks with the arrival of Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt, with the fee understood to be €70million (£59m) deal plus €5m in add-ons
Walker bid farewell to his City teammates at the club’s training ground on Monday ahead of his imminent exit.
His last outing for City was a 29-minute appearance off the bench in a 4-1 win over West Ham United on January 4.
Walker’s pending switch to Italy comes almost two weeks after City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed the England international’s desire to seek pastures new.
Speaking to talkSPORT after City’s FA Cup win over Salford, Guardiola said: “He said to the club two days ago that he wants to explore going abroad. He wants to finish his career in another place.
“He asked two years ago and I tried to convince him to commit to stay and he signed a contract and he was really important and won the Premier League last season as a captain.
“Now he’s saying that he would like to go to another country in this transfer window.
“He’s a player who when he’s fit and he’s focused with the attitude as a player he can play one, two, three more years.
“I’ve never seen a physical condition like he has in my life. All the success we’ve had in the eight years belongs a huge part to him and the guys almost had 100 games with the England national team.
“I don’t need to tell you how important he’s been but now he’s said to the club that he wants another experience – to explore was the word – and we will see what happens.”
Walker leaves City, albeit temporarily, as one of their most decorated players in the modern era.
Guardiola forked out £45m to sign Walker from Tottenham in 2017 and it proved to be a shrewd investment as he went on to make over 300 appearances for City.
In his seven-and-a-half seasons at the Etihad Stadium, Walker has collected a staggering 17 pieces of silverware.
Walker’s trophy haul includes six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four EFL Cups, two Community Shields, a Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
He was also announced as City’s captain in September 2023.
At Milan, Walker is set to compete with former Tottenham defender Emerson Royal for the starting right-back spot.
The Brazilian only moved to the San Siro last summer and has made 26 appearances across all competitions for the Rossoneri.
He also helped Milan keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Girona in the Champions League to continue their march to an automatic spot in the round of 16.
