Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel appears determined to stay and fight for his place in Vincent Kompany’s squad — but the young forward has no shortage of interested suitors should he choose to go out on loan.
That’s according to a report from L’Équipe — as captured via @iMiaSanMia:
Olympique Marseille have enquired about a potential loan move for Mathys Tel to replace Elye Wahi who is set to join Eintracht Frankfurt [@lequipe]
BFW Analysis
How the transfer market turns!
Wahi, only 22, is a fellow France youth national team prospect who has already had several seasons of success in Ligue 1 — scoring 10 and 19 league goals for Montpelier in 2021/22 and 2022/23, respectively, and starting 20 games in 27 league appearances for RC Lens last year. With Omar Marmoush gone to Manchester City, Wahi has an excellent chance to recapture his form in the Bundesliga…at a place where Tel himself might have gone.
Tel, by contrast, has stuck it out at Bayern and flashed wonderful talent but in three seasons has been buried in the Bavarian depth chart. If he spurned Eintracht Frankfurt, how likely is it he would join OM? But it will not get any easier in the Rückrunde for Tel to hit is stride in Bavaria…and with Christopher Nkunku potentially arriving in the summer, it could be that Tel hits the summer transfer window with his Bayern future more uncertain than ever.
