Wolverhampton Wanderers are allegedly contemplating whether to make an approach for a former Premier League and Champions League trophy winner.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly identified Besiktas midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as a potential January transfer target.
The West Midlands outfit dropped back into the Premier League relegation zone over the weekend after a 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal.
In the aftermath of Wolves’ fourth successive top-flight defeat, head coach Vitor Pereira highlighted the need for a new central midfielder.
If Mario Lemina departs Molineux as he wishes, Pereira will essentially be left with Andre, Joao Gomes – who is suspended for the next game – and Tommy Doyle as his solitary senior options.
Wolves have already suffered knockbacks in their efforts to sign Manu Silva and Johnny Cardoso, yet it appears that a new name has been added to their list of possible additions.

Oxlade-Chamberlain on Wolves radar?
According to The Sun, Wolves and Leicester City hold an interest in bringing Oxlade-Chamberlain back to the Premier League.
The 31-year-old has made a total of 36 appearances for the Turkish giants since joining them on a free transfer back in 2023.
Although the England international was handed 57 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Antalyasor on Sunday, it remains to be seen whether new head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer views him as an integral part of his squad.
At a time when the former Manchester United boss is likely to want to tinker with his senior crop before the end of the winter transfer window, it is claimed that Oxlade-Chamberlain is interested in returning to England.
He has previously made a combined total of 344 appearances for Arsenal and Liverpool, winning the Premier League title with the latter after also being an unused substitute when the Merseyside giants won the 2019 Champions League final.
There are still just under 18 months remaining on Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract, yet Besiktas would have the opportunity to make a profit on any sale.

Which club is the better fit?
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s versatility means that there is scope for him proving to be a valuable asset to each of Wolves and Leicester.
Wolves are clearly eager for a new central midfielder and someone with greater attacking capabilities such as Oxlade-Chamberlain could complement Pereira’s other options.
Meanwhile, Ruud van Nistelrooy deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation for the 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, with Oxlade-Chamberlain seemingly a fit for any of the three creative roles.
