Deadline day is fast approaching, and West Ham United must ensure that we exit the January transfer window with a stronger squad than we currently have.
West Ham head coach Graham Potter has already shown us what he’s capable of with the current crop of players at his disposal.
However, the January transfer window is an opportunity for the Hammers owners to provide Potter with the funds to strengthen his ranks even further still.
Deadline day is now just seven days away, and annoyingly we have a game that night – Chelsea away.
Either way, West Ham have to make some big signings if we are to make some genuine progress under Potter during the second half of the season.
The problem that the Hammers have is that we don’t have unlimited funds.
That said, there must be some money floating around – we made a £57 million bid for Jhon Duran after all!
Still, the strongest rumours emerging from the London Stadium right now are pertaining to potential exits rather than new arrivals.
Exceptional player wants to leave West Ham before deadline day
Whilst the Hammers desperately need some new signings, we need to move on some of the deadwood too.
There may well be an opportunity to make some big money as well.
That’s because one player, who’s actually very decent on his day, seemingly wants to leave the club.
According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (print edition January 27th), Jean-Clair Todibo is growing increasingly more eager to leave the London Stadium before deadline day next week.
Juventus are said to be keen on signing the Frenchman.
West Ham signed Todibo from Nice in the summer of 2024 on loan, but he is due to join us permanently at the end of the season for around £32 million.
However, it must be said, the 25-year-old has failed to live up to expectations at the London Stadium.
Todibo is said to be regretting joining West Ham from Nice back in the summer.
I actually firmly believe that the Hammers should activate our obligation to buy him early, before selling him on immediately to Juventus for a quick profit.
I only want players who want to be here.
Jean-Clair Todibo is a big talent, but he’s a bad fit for the Hammers, especially because he feels like he was forced into joining us.
If there is a chance for the West Ham owners to make his deal permanent, and then sell him on immediately to Juventus for a profit before the January transfer window slams shut on deadline day, they should definitely do it in my opinion.
