Kieran Tierney starts for Arsenal in Sunday’s Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, as Oleksandr Zinchenko misses out through injury.
Kieran Tierney has made the starting lineup for Arsenal in Sunday’s Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, as Oleksandr Zinchenko misses out through injury.
Last week, reports emerged claiming that Zinchenko would miss the rest of the season with a calf injury sustained in the Gunners’ 2-0 win at Newcastle United.
Mikel Arteta shot down such reports, though, and Zinchenko was surprisingly able to take part in training on Saturday, but the Ukrainian has not been passed fit to make the squad.
As a result, Tierney comes in for just his sixth Premier League start of the campaign at the Emirates in the only change from last weekend’s success at St James’ Park, as Reuell Walters makes the bench in Zinchenko’s absence.
Jorginho is once again given the nod in midfield over Thomas Partey, while Jakub Kiwior makes his third successive Premier League start over Rob Holding in the backline, as William Saliba misses out again.
Meanwhile, Brighton make four changes from Monday’s 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Everton, as Evan Ferguson, Julio Enciso, Billy Gilmour and Levi Colwill come into the starting XI.
The injured Adam Webster drops out of the XI alongside Facundo Buonanotte, Deniz Undav and ex-Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck, while Solly March misses out altogether.
