Manchester City and Liverpool ‘are both eyeing up a move for Chelsea starlet Levi Colwill after his impressive loan spell at Brighton’… as the Blues weigh up selling host of young talents to meet FFP rules
- Man City and Liverpool are interested in signing Levi Colwill this summer
- The defender has impressed on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion and has admirers
- Chelsea could allow a sale due to the need to meet Financial Fair Play rules
Chelsea are at risk of losing their on-loan defender Levi Colwill this summer as Manchester City and Liverpool are eyeing a move for the defender.
The Blues allowed Colwill to depart in the summer for Brighton on a season-long deal despite the Seagull’s being keen to sign 20-year-old on a permanent deal.
It is now believed that Chelsea could lose their talented youngster at the end of the season as the Evening Standard report that Man City and Liverpool are eyeing up a move.
The report states that Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp’s sides are ready to raid as they look to take advantage of the financial threats that Chelsea face.
This could lead to the Blues selling their academy talents to meet Financial Fair Play rules.

The Chelsea youngster could be set for his first England call-up after an impressive season
Both Liverpool and City are keen to refresh their defences in the summer, identifying the left-footed defender as the ‘top target’ ahead of the summer window.
Colwill has impressed under Roberto De Zerbi after breaking into an in-form Brighton side to cement his place in the starting XI alongside Lewis Dunk.
While Chelsea are set to enter contract talks with Colwill to keep him at the club, the interest from elsewhere could see Todd Boehly cash in on the talented Englishman.
Having spent £600million over the course of two transfer windows, there is an opportunity for a fire sale at Stamford Bridge despite insistence that the Blues will comply with the FFP regulations.

Jurgen Klopp is also looking to bring in the 20-year-old during the summer transfer window
With the likely failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League, after a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the quarter-final stage this season, Chelsea will miss out on over £90million of television money.
Therefore, the Blues will need to sell players to boost their income and by offloading Cobham graduates, the sales would count as pure profit due to the fact that no transfer fee was paid as they came through the academy.
The likes of Conor Gallagher, who has interest from Crystal Palace and Everton, as well as Callum Hudson-Odoi, on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, could see significant profit come in.
Furthermore, Mason Mount has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and with just a year left on his deal, he could depart this summer to help the situation.
It remains to be seen as to whether the Blues would allow Colwill to depart, with Benoit Badiashile coming in during the January transfer window and occupying the same position as the young Englishman.
