West Ham agenda: Win a trophy and beat Big Fat Sam
So on Thursday we face AZ Alkmaar in the second leg of the Conference semi final.
Some seem to think it’s a ‘done deal.’ In fact, some seem to think we have just got to turn up and collect the trophy!
I would love to agree with them, but after the struggle in the first leg, and the fact they have a reputation for being hard to beat at home, I am concerned. That comes from someone who is always accused of being too optimistic!
I hope this game is irrelevant in terms of survival and we can just remind the Leeds manager of what West Ham is about given that he never understood us in reality.
So which of these is more important? Like most things in life, it’s a matter of opinion. Mine is that I would LOVE us to lift a Cup!
I am old enough to remember when it happened and it has been WAY too long!
The fact is Premier League survival is THE most important goal for ALL Premier League clubs.
Once that is secured glory-hunting can start. It SHOULD have already been achieved, but since we seem to make a habit of poor performances it rumbles on-albeit we are positioned better than others to survive.
In an ideal world we survive, beat Allardyce and lift that trophy. But survival must always come first although I hope I long live enough to see us win another trophy!
Here’s hoping that next season we won’t make such a hash of it and we won’t be involved in any that ‘relegation’ talk.
