ESPN claim a deal between West Ham and Man United could be on the cards for Harry Maguire to ease FFP concerns after genuine January interest.
There has been a lot of talk that Manchester United could enter the race for West Ham captain Declan Rice this summer.
But one player might be heading in the other direction regardless.
With Craig Dawson sold to Wolves, Angelo Ogbonna in the twilight of his West Ham career and injury concerns over Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd, David Moyes was said to have tried to sign Harry Maguire from Man United in January.
January interest was genuine claims journalist
That was according to a report from The Mirror in the last window which claimed West Ham were considering a swoop to sign the 30-year-old centre-back on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy from Man United.
A deal was not struck between Manchester United and West Ham and the move never materialised.
It has been clear since Erik ten Hag’s arrival that Maguire does not have a future at Old Trafford.

But he could have one at West Ham it seems.
ESPN claim a West Ham and Man United deal is on the cards for Maguire to ease FFP concerns after genuine January interest.
ESPN journalist Rob Dawson claims Maguire is one of a number of Man United players definitely up for sale this summer.
And he states West Ham are expected to revive their interest with Man United needing money to fund transfers and ease Financial Fair Play worries.
Maguire would be a superb signing for the Hammers and a potential captain
“The club are open to offers for as many as 10 first-team squad players including captain Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay,” Dawson reports.
“West Ham are expected to revive their interest in Maguire after making an enquiry in January and Newcastle are interested in McTominay, but not at United’s valuation of around £40m.
“It’s important United manage outgoing transfers well this summer to help ease their FFP concerns.”
Maguire may not have had the best of times at Man United. But he is still England’s first choice centre-back.
And away from the glare that is on all Man United players, Maguire may well thrive again.
He would certainly be a massive signing if West Ham can pull it off. Maguire could also be a contender to take over the West Ham captaincy.
