It is understandable that Everton fans want a vote of no confidence in Bill Kenwright after his ‘inflammatory’ comments.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Everton fans’ call for action at Goodison Park.
As reported by The Athletic, Everton’s Fan Advisory Board (FAB) has issued a notice of no confidence in club chairman Kenwright.
The fan board added that they were “hugely disappointed” by Kenwright’s open letter which refused to take any blame on behalf of the Toffees board.
Kenwright’s open letter responded to questions asked by the #AllTogetherNow group, who questioned Kenwright’s ability to run the club and continue as chairman.
The 77-year-old produced an emphatic response claiming that he and club owner Farhad Moshiri are “succeeding” at Goodison Park.
Fans also called for Moshiri to reveal his plans to bolster the relegation-threatened side’s board.
Maguire insists it is a “shame” that the relationship between Everton fans and Kenwright has deteriorated so much.
“There’s no doubt that Bill Kenwright is a proud Evertonian,” Maguire told Football Insider.
“It’s a shame that his relationship with the fan base has deteriorated to such an extent.“
“But having said that, sometimes he said things which were inflammatory.
“It’s often better to engage in proper conversation than putting out press releases.
“Perhaps if that route had been taken, then we would be in a slightly more positive position with regards to that relationship between Kenwright and the Everton fans.“
