Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly closing in on the signing of Sporting Lisbon star Manuel Ugarte, with the French champions set to trigger his release clause.
Lisbon-based newspaper Correio da Manha report that the French champions have agreed to pay the £52million clause to secure Ugarte’s signature.
The Uruguayan international is now expected to sign a five-year contract to join PSG.
Ugarte has impressed during his second season at Sporting, with the midfielder making 47 appearances in all competitions.
Ugarte joined Sporting for just over £5million in the summer of 2021 from fellow Portuguese side Famalicao.

PSG’s offer was reportedly presented to Ugarte’s agent Jorge Mendes.
Mendes had been talking to several Premier League clubs over a potential move for Ugarte.
Liverpool, Newcastle United and Chelsea have watched Ugarte this season but are working on other priorities as it stands.
Aston Villa became the latest club to express an interest in the midfielder, but PSG are now expected to win the race for his signature.
