According to reports, Man Utd will ‘try to sign’ Harry Kane, Mason Mount and Declan Rice during this summer’s transfer window.
There are a lot of question marks surrounding Man Utd ahead of this summer. The Premier League giants are currently up for sale and the Glazer family are yet to name their preferred bidder.
Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are seemingly leading the race to become the club’s new majority stakeholder but it is yet to be seen which route the Glazers will go down with the takeover.
The club’s ownership situation has led people to wonder how much money Erik ten Hag will have to spend on players this summer. At the start of this month, it was indicated that Man Utd’s budget will be £100m even if Sheikh Jassim buys the club from the Glazer family.
Despite this, Man Utd are being ambitious with their transfer targets. Sky Sports are reporting that they ‘want England trio Mount, Kane and Rice this summer’. They add.
‘United’s No 1 target is Tottenham striker Kane, who is the player that manager Erik ten Hag wants the most.
‘It is unlikely they will sign all three players and everything depends on United’s impending takeover, with Qatari investors and INEOS’ Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the running.
‘Kane, Rice and Mount are exactly the kind of characters United boss Ten Hag wants in the club’s dressing room.’
The report claims Man Utd are ‘the leading contenders to sign Mount if he leaves Chelsea this summer’.
The Blues are ‘prepared to sell’ their academy product but they will ‘demand in excess of £70m. This is while Kane and Rice are understood to be valued at around £100m each.
Signing these three players with a measly budget of £100m will be hard so they need to cash in on some unwanted squad players to raise funds.

Harry Maguire is one player who could be sold and ex-United striker Louis Saha thinks the England international “must look for a move”.
“Harry Maguire must look for a move away from Manchester United because his form is going to drop as he won’t play much,” Saha told Paddy Power.
“He needs minutes and his style would suit a team who are very compact defensively and hit teams on the counter. But right now, United need a very composed and agile player at the back, able to maintain the quality going forwards.
“If Maguire wants to stay, he has to improve very quickly and take any opportunity he gets in the team. It’s a big challenge for Maguire. He can play for Manchester United but given the players ahead of him in the team, he’s not going to get the minutes he needs if he wants to remain at the top.”
