Liverpool’s top target for the upcoming summer transfer window – Mason Mount is said to be leaning towards a move to Manchester United.
The England playmaker had emerged as the priority name on the wishlist for the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp who is out to rebuild his engine room over the summer after his side has all but failed to secure a Champions League qualification berth this term.
According to a report from The Athletic, it is claimed that Mount would rather sign for Manchester United over Liverpool or Arsenal and talks between the Old Trafford camp and Chelsea could get underway in due course.
Incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly a fan of Mount but the former will be in no position to convince the 24-year-old to stay put with Mount keen to become one of the highest earners in the Chelsea fold.
Liverpool’s interest in signing Mount has been well-documented since the turn of the year and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United joining the mix for the midfielder will complicate the Anfield outfit’s plans for the summer window.
