Liverpool are said to be keen on pursuing a move for Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio as Jurgen Klopp looks to shore up his defensive options over the summer.
The Reds are set to compete in the Europa League next term after missing out on a top four finish following Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Chelsea on Thursday night which assumed them of the fourth and final qualification spot in the league table.
Klopp will be encouraged to revamp his squad before the next season gets underway and the highly rated Sporting centre-back Inacio, who has grown into one of Europe’s best young defenders, is on the radar at Anfield.
According to a report from the Portuguese publication A Bola ( via Sport Witness), it is claimed that Liverpool have made contact with the agent of Inacio and the Merseysiders could emerge as the frontrunners for his signature.
Sporting have previously turned down offers worth €30 million for Inácio but the Portuguese giants will have little room to negotiate with other clubs as Inacio’s release clause stands at €45 million.
