Hammers boss David Moyes is clearly keen to bolster his forward line at the London Stadium this summer.
So could the Scot go for one of the Premier League’s most exciting players over the last decade?
West Ham target Alexis Sanchez wants to come back to the Premier League
The Sun reckon that the Hammers target has his heart set on a Premier League return this summer, when his contract with Marseille expires.
Sanchez’s form has gone downhill since he joined Manchester United from Arsenal back in January 2018. The 153-capped Chilean international has been poor since swapping Man United for Inter Milan as well.
The South American joined Marseille on a one-year deal last summer, and in fairness to him he has been pretty good for the Ligue 1 side, with 18 goals and three assists in 42 games to his name (Transfermarkt).
It must be said though, Sanchez returning to the Premier League at 34 would surely only end one way – in disaster.
In my opinion, West Ham should not be going anywhere near Alex Sanchez this summer.
If Moyes wants to guide us to some real success as a club, and for the Hammers to make genuine progress, the Scot needs to be signing young, hungry players with points to prove – not ageing mercenaries looking for one final big payday.
Let’s hope that if the Chilean does return to the Premier League, his destination will not be the London Stadium.
