Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland edges nearer to joining Rangers after holding talks with the Ibrox club as his Manchester United loan nears an end
- Jack Butland is preparing to join Rangers on a permanent transfer this summer
- The Crystal Palace shot-stopper held talks with Rangers officials on Tuesday
- A compromise was made on the goalkeeper’s initial salary demands
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland, on loan at Manchester United, held talks with Rangers on Tuesday evening as he looks to finalise a move.
The Scottish Premiership runners-up are keen to bring in a new number one in the summer as Michael Beale looks to reignite a title clash with Celtic next season.
Butland is out of contract at Selhurst Park in June and is preparing for a move to the Scottish giants as his time in English football comes to an end.
The 30-year-old is eager to secure more minutes after failing to make a single first-team appearance for either United or Palace during a disappointing season for the former England international.
His salary demands initially rocked a potential move to Ibrox, however a compromise has been reached on personal terms with Butland set to join Rangers as a free agent.

Head coach Beale stressed the importance of bringing Butland to the club given the Englishman’s Premier League and Championship experience.
He will become the second Premier League goalkeeper in two years to move to Glasgow after Joe Hart joined this season’s Scottish top-flight title winners in 2021.
Meanwhile, Manchester United want to reinforce their goalkeeping ranks with Erik ten Hag refusing to guarantee David de Gea a starting role next season.
United have a contract agreement in place with the Spaniard, although it has still to be signed off by all relevant parties involved in the deal.
Funds could be raised by sanctioning the sale of former number two Dean Henderson who is preparing to seal a permanent move to Nottingham Forest after an impressive campaign at the City Ground.
