Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have all received a boost in their pursuit of Celta Vigo youngster Gabri Veiga, according to reports in Spain.
Veiga has enjoyed a wonderful campaign with the Spanish outfit and is attracting interest from a host of European clubs.
With several managers on the lookout for a new midfielder, the 21-year-old has become a serious option due to his €40million (£34.5m) release clause.
Out of the three aforementioned Premier League teams, Manchester United are the most likely to sign a player like Veiga.
That could change if City lose Ilkay Gundogan, while the Blues are prioritising the signing of a defensive-minded midfield player.
United signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan in the January transfer window and there has been talk of him joining permanently from Bayern Munich.
This appears to be unlikely, however, with the Daily Mail claiming the Red Devils are not looking to meet Bayern’s reported £25m asking price.
The Austrian midfielder has impressed when given the chance but Erik ten Hag is clearly aiming higher.
The same report says United will also opt not to sign Wout Weghorst on a permanent basis, which is a lot more understandable than the decision not to buy Sabitzer.

Back to Veiga; it has been reported by Spanish outlet AS (via Sport Witness) that the young midfielder’s exit from Celta is ‘certain’ to come to fruition in the summer.
Liverpool and Arsenal do not get a mention here, but both have been linked with the player in recent months.
After ‘exploding’ at Celta, Veiga has also attracted interest from Real Madrid, who could make a move for him despite the imminent arrival of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.
Veiga is ‘open to all options’, though his next club is not set in stone, only the fact that he will be moving on this summer with Celta now giving up in their attempts to keep hold of him.
Interest from United, City and Chelsea has been ‘received’ with Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona also in the race.
Veiga has played 38 times across all competitions this season, scoring nine goals and providing four assists.
