“Concrete interest” in Jonathan Tah
As previously flagged by CandH, West Ham are continuing to show ‘very concrete’ interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah this summer as he looks to leave the German side.
The German newspaper BILD, have reported that the defender can leave the Bundesliga side if his €18m release clause is matched by any clubs.
They explain that Tah is ‘pushing for a change’ after eight years at Leverkusen and his ‘preferred destination’ would be a move to England.
He wants to take the next step in his career and move to the Premier League, which ‘is his dream’ that he would finally like to fulfil. That is why he has been asking for advice from agent Pini Zahavi, an expert in transfers to England, for the last few months.
He has seemingly done his job too, with several sides in England showing an interest and West Ham are one of them.
Tah still has a contract with Leverkusen until 2025 but it contains a release clause worth €18m. That must be activated by the beginning of July before it expires.
The Irons hope is that a win in the Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina next week, which would help them secure Europa League football, can help convince Tah to move to the London Stadium.
