A reporter with close David Sullivan links has claimed that a 41-year-old Englishman is the leading candidate for the West Ham director of football role.
According to Claret and Hugh, who have close links to West Ham co-owner David Sullivan, much change is afoot at the London Stadium ahead of the new season, with a director of football being lined up to come in and potentially replace Rob Newman.

It seems as though Sully has someone specific in mind to bring into the London Stadium this summer though.
And he has an extremely good reputation within the game…
According to Claret and Hugh, current Monaco Sporting Director Paul Mitchell is the lead candidate to come to the Hammers and take over as the new director of football this summer.
David Moyes and Newman have been criticised heavily for some of the signings they made last summer.
It seems as though Sullivan is keen to take charge of player recruitment now by appointing someone that he wants in the role.
And there aren’t many better than Paul Mitchell.
The 41-year-old has spent time in charge of player recruitment at MK Dons, Southampton, Tottenham, RB Leipzig and now Monaco.
He is famous for being the man who signed the likes of Dele Alli, Heung-Min Son, Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld for Tottenham and then Nordi Mukiele and Matheus Cunha for Leipzig. With Monaco, he has overseen the signings of Axel Disasi and Breel Embolo – two players who coincidentally have both been linked with the Hammers.
Mitchell has been with the Ligue 1 outfit for three years now, so he may well be open to a change in scenery.
I would love Paul Mitchell to become the new director of football at West Ham. His reputation in his particular field is second to none and it would be great to have his expertise on board at the London Stadium.
