West Ham are being linked with a shock move to bring in Frenchman Christophe Galtier as a replacement for David Moyes but it’s surely hot air.
Speculation over the future of David Moyes at West Ham beyond this summer has been rife for months.
Moyes has been linked with Celtic in the last couple of weeks. And talk of serious Hoops interest in their former player intensified after Ange Postecoglou’s departure for West Ham’s rivals Spurs.
Speaking in the aftermath of West Ham’s European triumph, majority owner David Sullivan made it clear Moyes will be West Ham manager next season – as long as he wants to be.
The caveat ‘if he wants to remain’ has fanned the flames of speculation that the Hammers boss could decide to walk away on a high amid the links to Celtic.

A reporter close to Sullivan then claimed that Moyes could decide to resign, painting an uncertain picture over his immediate future.
It was reported on Friday that Moyes had been met with Sullivan over his and the club’s future with the appointment of a Director of Football imminent.
On Saturday afternoon Sky Sports ran a breaking news story stating Moyes had decided to stay at West Ham next season.
But the media outlet performed a U-turn. The breaking news story ‘Moyes stays’ was removed and replaced with a story headlined ‘Moyes expected to stay on’ at West Ham at 10.12pm on Saturday.
New name in the hat
Now a new name has been mentioned for the Hammers top job.
West Ham are being linked with a shock move to appoint PSG boss Christophe Galtier as a replacement for Moyes but it’s surely hot air.
According to RMC Sport and GFFN this morning, Galtier is among the candidates to replace Moyes as manager of West Ham, who have been extensively linked with Lille’s Paulo Fonseca.
But the same outlet reports Napoli are leading the “race” for his signature ahead of his imminent departure from PSG.
Hammers News opinion: Agent-led hot air?
Galtier is a fantastic, modern, progressive manager who plays attacking football.
So it could be a great fit with what West Ham fans want.
But this is surely the work of Galtier’s agents in a bid to get their client the best possible package from Napoli or to ramp up interest from elsewhere.
With Brendan Rodgers looking nailed on for a Celtic return, even those West Ham fans who wanted to see Moyes leave regardless must be asking themselves who else is out there better suited to lead the team next season.
Moyes is surely going to – at the very least – see out the remaining year of his contract.
Although the imminent appointment of a director of football does muddy the water somewhat given Moyes’ insistence on having complete control and final say on recruitment.
