Fabrizio Romano confirms that young Fenerbahce star Arda Guler will be available for just €17.5m net this summer, after playing over 1,500 minutes for his current club this season.
A number of top clubs are reportedly making moves to convince the player to join them.
There had been a possibility that Guler could have been available for just €5m, if he’d played less than 1,500 minutes.
But seemingly with that in mind, Fenerbahce made the 18-year-old a starter in the final games of the campaign, and he ended up playing 1,547.
The teenager scored six goals and assisted seven in those minutes, a goal contribution every 119 minutes for the Super Lig club in all competitions.
Previous reports from Turkey suggested that Newcastle United had sent scouts to watch Guler in Fenerbahce’s clash with Istanbulspor, and that Arsenal are also interested in the youngster.
You’d imagine Arsenal’s priorities are currently elsewhere, but the chance to pick Guler up for his relatively low release clause may be appealing.
It could depend on how much of the summer budget Arsenal end up using on their key targets, with the signing of Declan Rice clearly likely to eat up a huge chunk if it goes through.
Arsenal have long been linked with Guler, with one of his former coaches claiming last year that the Gunners had already made him an offer.
For a talented 18-year-old drawing plenty of interest from around Europe, €5m would have been a great deal, and €17.5m is still very reasonable.
