Moyes plans held up by Rice sale
West Ham’s summer transfer window looks likely to follow the pattern we have experienced under David Moyes previously although it would be wrong to accuse him of dragging his feet this time around.
The Hammers – whilst having extra funds if required – see the sale of Declan Rice sale as providing the major cash available to them this summer plus perhaps bits and pieces from other departing players.
Moyes certainly appears to have his eye on certain players – notably Harvey Barnes – but the club have made it clear to Claret and Hugh they are in no rush to enter the summer window,
New sporting director appointment slows window plans
That may well be down to the ongoing Rice saga or their preparations to appoint a sporting director which represents an infrastructure change within the who recruitment process.
Mark Warburton’s departure may have been linked to that in one way or another but in the meantime the club will be waiting for an acceptable Rice offer before making their own moves in the market.
Our key source has told us on two separate occasions that the Rice money is the basis for this season’s window and that the club will be waiting on negotiations over new players until later in the window.
