Hammers worries over Man City’s Phillips

David Moyes and the West Ham board will look very closely at the offer from Manchester City should Kalvin Phillips be offered as part of it.

City have moved in to challenge Arsenal for Declan Rice and we understand Phillips could well be offered plus £75 million cash.

Whilst Moyes is a great admirer of the player and bid for him before the former Leeds midfielder chose City last summer, his injury track record is a big worry ahead of any deal being accepted.

Last season he was out of action for 74 days which took in 16 games when he was suffering from a shoulder injury and things were even worse in the 20/21 season. During that campaign he missed a total of 26 games with hamstring, calf and shoulder injuries.

The other problem is that although currently fit he is understood to not be enthusiastic about leaving City having told manager Pep Guardiola that he is keen to prove himself at the club.

A West ham source told Claret and Hugh: “We like him as a player but yes, the injury  position is something of a worry given two shoulder injuries are included.”
